Position Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer CO-OP to join our Operations and Quality teams.  This role is designed for students looking to gain hands-on experience in industrial engineering practices, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and ensuring quality standards.  As a CO-OP, you will work closely with our Operations and Quality Assurance teams to support ongoing projects, analyze processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

As a co-op onsite at Powerex you will work in office, engineering lab and assembly line/manufacturing environments. To be successful in this co-op you will need to be open to a variety of activities that support the Operations and Quality teams and embrace new challenges that will come as you gain experience.

Example tasks based on co-op experience level are below.

• Process analysis and improvement.  Assist in analyzing existing manufacturing and operational processes to identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with team members to develop, document and implement process enhancements.
• Collect and analyze data related to operational performance and quality metrics.
• Utilize statistical and engineering tools to support data-driven decision-making.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and standards.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving for quality-related issues
• Support the Quality Assurance team in conducting inspections and audits.
• Participate in cross-functional project teams to support various initiatives and projects
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction
• Assist in the implementation of Lean methodologies

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with engineering software is a plus
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement

Work Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job in the Plant or Warehouse, the employee can be exposed to noise.  The noise level is usually moderate but hearing protection may be required in designated areas.

The employee will occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.
